The 4th Step of any Deep Canvassing program shows us that in order to build effective and lasting relationships with community members, you have to make it clear where you stand.
We Believe in Deep Canvassing, which means it’s important to us to be transparent about what’s guiding our programs. Our score values include:
-
Traditional outreach techniques are no longer serving us or the progressive movement sufficiently. We have no choice but to act, and no time but to act now. Luckily, the solution is clear. We need to embrace what organizers have always understood - the key to good organizing is having longer, more meaningful, and effective conversations, neighbor to neighbor, human to human.
-
For decades, rural parties have not received the resources they need to successfully organize in the country. We know rural organizers are the scrappiest, kindest, most passionate and most community grounded organizers you can find - no national movement can succeed without throwing effort behind rural organizers.
-
If we’re working primarily with rural communities, then money is a finite resource. If groups cannot afford our services, first we offer a discounted rate until they can. If we still do not reach a solution, we will reach back to the county at such a time in the future that we can deliver our services for free. Deep Canvassing is the future of organizing, and we will not leave rural communities behind.
-
In order for any organizing program to be successful, it has to be built by and for the people that will be using it. An essential component of Deep Canvassing is the unique and irreplaceable knowledge held by members of the community you are trying to persuade; there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. We will tailor our programs to your organization so that you can run the Deep Canvassing program you know will work, and talk to your neighbors in the way only you know how.
-
No movement can be built to last without a commitment to finding joy. Despite the times we live in, there is always space to get to know our partners better as people, share a laugh, and build community together, and this will give the progressive movement the stamina to succeed.
