An organizer of 10 years, they are fully aware of the power of Deep Canvassing and what it means for these crucial historical crossroads – that’s why Marcos has been traveling across the country, getting this undeniable methodology to as many organizers as possible.

At the end of the day, Deep Canvassing is powerful because people are worth believing in and Marcos believes in people.

What is Deep Canvassing?

How It Works: The Deep Canvassing Formula

Step 1: Initial Rating

Introduce yourself, hook your audience with a thoughtful and open-ended question, and have them answer that question on a scale from 0-10.

Step 2: Story Share

Dig deeper into this community member’s story and what informs their opinions, relating it to your own story and identifying the values you have in common.

Step 3: Process Dissonance

The crux of it all – ask them a question that gives them the space to recognize how their actions are not leading to the results they actually want.

Step 4: Making the Case

Share why you’re excited to be here today! And point out, since it seems like you have these values in common, perhaps your position is something that would resonate with them as well.

Step 5: Final Rating

Ask them the same question, but give them the space to articulate what changed for them.

You ask them to commit to an action that feels like a chance to enjoy and embrace their new relationship to their values.
